Moosequatch

Three moose have been hanging around our neighborhood. I've tried to capture them on camera, but they are sneaky devils.

They've been chowing down on a neighbor's cottonwood tree that fell over in a bad windstorm last fall.

Aha! There's one of you.
Let's see if I can catch a clear shot of the other two . . .
You can run, but you cannot hide.

On the other hand, maybe you can hide.

I swear to you, I did NOT photoshop that picture. That birch tree is some kind of magic portal leading to Harry Potter's train station, I guess.

Okay! Finally! Two down, one to go . . .

I never could attain a clear view of the third moose. I snapped almost 50 pictures, but every single one was either blurry or of its behind.

I've got a bad feeling about that third moose.

LOL! Love the moose. You did get an excellent shot of one that one by the tree.

this is such a silly question, but are moose skiddish? I remember as a 3 year old they didn't want to move their big ugly behinds out of the way when walking along the path with aunt Cher.....

Hey, Jenn: I can't figure out how to email you directly (I thought I had your address??) . . . but anyhoo, sometimes moose are skittish and sometimes they are not. Just depends. Most of the moose around our house are NOT--you're right, they WON'T MOVE!! We've tried air horns even, and they'll just give us a look and keep right on eating our trees.

That said, every so often, one will startle and run off. We had a clueless moose once run right through the middle of our volleyball game in the backyard!

We do try to steer clear of mamas with calves, as they have a reputation for charging (although it's never happened to me, even when I once came upon a mother with twin babies).
